Hello,

I have a Medion Erazer P17613 Core i5-9300H 8GB 512GB SSD GeForce GTX 1650. I am very keen on playing Cyberpunk 2077 which I have been waiting for, which shall hopefully be out this year and was hoping for some opinions and advice on ram upgrades as follows please:

The recommended specs is 16gb for this game, I have 8gb. I am sure it will run but would prefer it to be quicker and smoother.

i) The ram I have is samsung made, if I keep that and put another 8gb ram in of another brand or even samsung but a different model, would these inconsistencies cause issues?

ii) Secondly with the overall spec of the laptop, would it be worth spending the extra for overall 32gb (2*16) or the cpu, ssd & gfx wouldn't appreciate anyway.

iii) Is there difference between: DDR 2666 or 3200, as the prices seems similar

iv) Also, Is there much difference between having a single ram 16gb or 2x8gb

Thank you

Xul

It's really difficult to say unfortunately, unless someone has seen a lot more detail on the required specs than I have.

Memory is one of those things that if you don't have enough it is crap, if you do then you don't really notice.

I'd definitely not recommend using a single stick though.

That's a laptop, right? Does it even support 3200? I'd have thought 2666 was the limit?

Looks like that CPU - https://ark.intel.com/content/www/u...-9300h-processor-8m-cache-up-to-4-10-ghz.html - can only go up to DD4-2666, so as Tetras says, no point in DDR4-3200. I mean you could use it, I just think it would clock down to the slower speed. And personally I wouldn't mix & match brands. Always by x2 the same.

So looking at - https://uk.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/medion/erazer-p17613 - I'd personally say (depending on your budget) just go with the Ballistix as it has the tighter timings.

2x8GB - https://uk.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k8g26c16s4b/ct18516252 - £62.39
2x16GB - https://uk.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g26c16s4b/ct18516245 - £135.59

Cheers.
