Laptop RAM upgrade

Currently got an acer v laptop running a single 8gb stick. According to cpuz its a 5600Mhz.

I want to upgrade it to at least 16Gb, but looking at the prices i think it would be better to add another 8gb stick. Will it work if its only 4800Mhz?

Or theres a 16Gb ( 2x8 ) kit of 4800Mhz ive seen for sale reasonnably cheap. Will that be ok?

The CPU is an i5 13420H if that makes any difference.

Should do, 4800 is just a standard speed and the existing stick will have a profile for running at that.

Apart from it being a waste of the one you already have.

Id just replace the single stick for the matched pair

You don’t need a matched pair. I would just get the 4800MHz module and the system will run your existing memory at the same speed as it so both will be running the same. You won’t notice any difference in that respect.
