I wondered if anyone could recommend a laptop for me given the following requirements

As a base model i wanted to get an asus ul30 when they were around but missed out. However i now think that may have been good as a smaller 11.6 inch model may be better for traveling.

cpu: ideally dual core
ram: minimum 2gb
hd: minimum 250gb
operating system: windows 7
battery: minimum 7 hours
no optical drive needed (as light and thin as possible)
wireless n
price: no higher then £400

i had considered the asus ul20, though this has no hdmi out, not sure if this is a disadvantage at the moment, may want it later in life.

thanks for any guidance you can give :)

Battery life will be the decider as there's still surprisingly few that can manage that. Best thing to do would be to shop around for laptops with ULV/CULV processors (like the SU2300 or SU7300 found in the Asus line). I'm sure some others will be on hand to offer specific recommendations in due course.

yeah i think the power saving chips are a must.
the acer 1810tz looks reasonable, though its currently a bit on the pricey side, maybe it'll come down in time.

also not too confident about acer reliability, but maybe things have changed now days, they do however seem to offer the best value/spec for money
