My parents are looking at getting a laptop and i'm afraid i'm very much out of the loop here. Last laptopesque thing I bought was a Samsung NC10 notebook years and years ago.
Budget - roughly £1,000. It must be a laptop and cannot be a desktop. Additionally, it needs to be a major branded one. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Sony etc.
Finally, parents live in India and will be buying it there and not in UK. I appreciate that you lot won't know what is and isn't available there, but i'm hoping that the majority of the models available from the big brands will be present there as well and should translate.
Usage - general home usage; nothing specific as such. Not going to be used for gaming really (any gaming that happens will be me if I go to visit and play around with it). The best I can get while spending the budget, the better. Have the entire budget to spend and anything NOT being spent on the laptop will be wasted.
Touch screen might be a good option for them so feel free to recommend anything, if it is any good
