I'm looking for a laptop for £500 or under, I don't know much about who is reliable for these, I've found an Acer for £500:

# Processor: Mobile AMD MK-36 Turion 2.0GHz Processor
# RAM: 1024MB DDR2-533MHz
# Hard Drive: 120GB
# Screen: 15.4" Widescreen TFTwith CrystalBrite Technology
# Optical Drive: DVD±RW Super Multi
# Graphics: ATI Radeon® Xpress 1100 integrated 3D graphics
# Wireless LAN: 802.11b/g
# Warranty: 1 Year

Seems like a good price, although I would prefer a longer warranty - it will be my only machine. Oh also can most laptops connect to an external monitor?

Thanks for any help

A large high street electical retailer are doing a Toshiba A100-147 for £499 + 10% discount with a code online. Core Duo (not core 2) and 1gb RAM etc. Seems the best buy at the moment.
There's also the Compaq V6133 for the same price. Not quite as good, but a good alternative and the design of it is very nice (IMO).

It seems to be £499 with the discount is that right?

Is an intel Core Duo 1.6ghz better than an AMD turion 2ghz? - for office apps, web browsing and music/video playback

says the voucher number is incorrect.. I guess it's changed or something. :( Shame cos 10% of 499 would make it a great deal!
