laptop replacement

My dads just about to replace my mothers failing laptop with an ipad for xmas. I have said this is not a good idea as an ipad is limited compared to a laptop pc. But i actually know little about the ipad . can somebody tell me what an ipad has missing that a laptop pc has so i can give my dad a more informed idea .

What are her main uses for the laptop?

I use the Ipad for Internet and and email, but for anything in-depth I use my laptop or pc. You can get a add on which gives you a external keyboard and you will need to but some software for office use.

Ipads are good, theyre just expensive, assuming your dad isnt bothered about gaming he could get an equal performance laptop for half the cost as an apple (that logo's expensive)
