I've been asked by my cousin to look into sorting her out with a laptop but alas, my knowledge of them has fallen by the wayside in recent months. She will be using the laptop mainly for office apps, internet browsing, along with maybe a few kids games. Certainly nothing graphics intensive at any rate. She has a budget of up to £600, so what kind of spec should she be looking at?

Thanks

Brilliant, I'll have a look at that Dell Inspiron 6400, sounds like just the ticket. Thanks very much :)

Sony and Toshiba ones come recommended from me. Have a sony for my personal use and a Toshiba satellite for work. The Toshiba is built like a tank and the touch pad is 'almost' as good as a mouse. The sony one is good but the extra expense of a toshiba is worth it

Hey

Some of the non budget Acer series are great laptops, some amazing second hand deals around on the acer ferrari laptops which would suit perfectly unless you was specifically after a dual core or similar. But I will also second the peeps on here, dell do some great non gaming machines and their support is often really helpful for non computer literate people.
