I know people have personal perspectives, however from a gaming perspective primarily on the laptop (no external monitor) what is the best screen size from a user perspective?
I recently replaced my old laptop that has an 18.1” screen. Wanted something almost as big and got an HP Omen 17 (17.3” screen) but ended up returning it. Went for a Legion 7 instead. It has a 16” screen and I’m getting along with it fine.
15" is much more convenient form factor wise but for gaming I'd rather have 17" personally - I've currently got my old 17" and a newer 15" laptop side by side and though I'm perfectly happy with the 15" on the newer one I'd still rather have a 17".
16:10 is great for productivity, but I'm less sure about gaming. Might involve having to configure some games for the unusual aspect ratio.
For the OP, I would go for 17.3" not just because as it's more immersive but also because all things being equal a larger chassis is bounded to run cooler and/or quieter.
Thanks to all who replied. Portability is not an issue for me as it'll be on the desktop. I've got an old 17 and was just wondering whether or not the 15/16 would be better. I agree re larger chassis etc
