Laptop Screen Flickers And Then Goes Green

Hello

I was hoping someone may be able to help with a very annoying problem my laptop appears to have developed. When I switch it on and log into my account, using Win XP, everything loads up and I just have it on sitting at my desktop waiting for me to do something, everything is fine. As soon as I click on Start in the start bar or try and load any programme, the screen flickers all black, to about 3/4 way up the page, freezes then the screen goes all green and then purple in some instances. The desktop becomes completley unvisible and I need to switch it off. This is happening everytime though when I restart it.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Sounds like bad graphics drivers. You can probably get drivers from the manufacturer's website, so give that a go.

try connecting an external monitor, if the display is fine then it will be the panel itself or the lcd harness

Just incase anyone does have a similair problem to this, managed to stay online just long enough to update my AVG. I ran it and it picked up a trojan horse located somewhere in my java. AVG removed it and it now seems to be fine.
