Laptop screen very dim

Hi,

Acer aspire 6935. Laptop screen is very dim - can hardly see anything but just about can.

When I close the lid half down (so it's not actually closed but not upright neither) the picture goes normal and brighter.

Backlight?

Either that or an inverter.

I have noticed on a few laptops that the cable fom the monitor to the laptop base comes looose, sometimes it's just as simple as removing the keyboard and pushing the cable back in.

Common issue on these i believe is the lcd cable breaks on the hinge, it's replaceable but pretty nasty job to do. Done a few, but as the others say check the connection to the inverter, both the jobs involves removing the entire screen pack from the unit.
