Laptop screen

Hi,

Got a friend's laptop whose screen isn't working.

Everything works perfectly when plugged into an external monitor, and you can hear the laptop boot up and login when using the broken screen.

The screen has power going to it, but it remain black. I have tried taking it apart to see if there were any loose connections but didn't have much luck.

I would suggest buying a new screen, but is there much chance of it being the invertor or maybe even one of the cables that is causing the problems?

What would you guys suggest?

Look very, very closely at the screen when it is on. If the lamps are not on you may be able to see an image on the screen.

Had a very close inspection and can't see any kind of image at all
