Laptop scrolling bar on touchpad not working

Just formatted my cousins dell 6400 laptop and re-installed vista and now the side scrolling bar on the touch pad no longer works - but it used to before the reformated. How do i turn it on again or enable it?

go into control panel > mouse > and theres usually a synaptics tab where u can access advance settings, its normally in there

it might require drivers for the touchpad to get it working fully.

Probably need to download synaptics drivers. That's what I had to do.
