Hi,
What would you choose, Laptop:

Intel Core i7-12700H, 16GB, 1TB SSD, RTX 3080, QHD 165Hz, 15.6'' - Helios 300

vs

AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, 32 GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, RTX 4070, 16" WQXGA, 16:10 165 Hz - Nitro Neo 16

thank you
Mike

The Ryzen based laptop is a bit newer and better, the screen is a bit better i expect, the 4070 is better, the CPU is not quite a strong as the intel but probably more energy efficient.

However specs like this dont tell the whole story, they dont just make one version of the 3080 and one 4070.
They make a range of different power limits, so you can have a really weak 3080 that has been tuned to use less power and create less heat ( these are MAX Q models ) and they make MAX P models that are the high performance tuned ones that have high power limits. They are usually in higher end gaming laptops that are expensive and have good cooling systems.
The problem is that info can be hard to find, companies seem to go out of their way to hide that info and you have to dig through their website looking into deeper specs or even contact them to ask or look at reviews etc.

Generally I would go for newer laptops and avoid MAX Q versions.

Hi,
What I can see on laptop description: Intel with RTX 3080 has max MGP 150w (A. Predator Helios 300 I believe 2022 model).
Ryzen with RTX 4070 is up to 140W. I think 2023 model.
I really like aluminium chase of the first one (premium look).
Anyway still dilemma.
Thank you.
