On or off

M750 1.86Ghz

Doing sod all runs at 800MHZ

Multi jumps form 6x to 14x

Will be upgrading the fan for amore CFM's and few other cooling mods.

Also AS5'ing the die to cpu cooler!

I have mine on - really helps with heat. 600mhz running @ 0.7v undervolted, 2.0ghz running running @ 1.16v undervolted. It really does mean the heat drops when idling.

IBM Thinkpad T41 - Intel 755 Pentium M Dothan 2.0ghz.

When running from the mains I have it enabled.

When on the battery, Speedstep is enabled but locked to 800Mhz. Makes a big difference to heat/battery life and I don't even notice the speed drop. Mind you, I don't do anything CPU intensive when mobile anyway.

Same - mine drops to 600mhz by default but I can't tell. I used it for browsing the net/notes/essays at uni. Would give me 5 hours even on the net with wireless enabled and now with the ultrabay battery I get 8 hours usage. Both times increased by about 30-40 minutes after underclocking.

i leave my dell on as i only have my laptop on when i am using it so whats the point of speed step it gets a rest when i turn it of
Longevity of the motherboard - laptops, even the P-M's do get hot when doing intense tasks - I know my thinkpad does. This heat can be reduced by having speedstep on, and the processor immediately clocks up when you do something - the real question is why would you have it off? You will not notice any difference with it on or off except that it will be cooler. Speedstep is an amazing bit of technology.
