Laptop stated maximum memory vs chipset maximum?

My Vaio FE31z has according to Sony a maximum capability of 2GB of ram, however according to the chipset specs found here: http://www.intel.com/Products/Notebook/Chipsets/945PM/945PM-overview.htm 4GB is supported, what do you think the chances are of it taking 4GB?

Yeh, I just don't know anybody with a 2GB stick

Now I've seen a few laptops with only one slot accessable from the back panels, however upon opening them up properly there is sometimes another slot available either on th eother side of the pcb or hidden under the main back panel.
