Laptop to 32" HDTV Res ?

Hi,

Just bought a HDMI cable to connect my Sony Laptop to a Panasonic 32" HDTV. What's the best way to set it up for the best picture ? I'm running it currently in 1280x720 though its chopping off an inch or two of the screen displayed on the TV.

Any suggestions

Set it to 1360 x 768 for the best quality picture on the TV.

At that res the writing looks very distorted.

and with VGA not S-Video. Ideally need to set 1366x768 but probably can't do that.

Not using VGA or S-video, laptop has a HDMI port

That's alright then. But set to 1360x768 and there will be some horizontal scaling going on, so text will look a little blurry but it'll be fine in gaming or movies. Unless your set has native mode in which case it'll be 1:1 and just lose 3 pixels either side.
