My HP Laptop has a fault where I cannot insert SD cards to read/write, yet if I try a adapter with a micro sd card. It fits ok and it reads/write. Not had any reason till now to use the reader.

Looked into the card reader slot and cannot see any physical reason why SD cards will not fit

The laptop is 9mths old from Curry's, should I remove any of folders such as emails, documents and photo's etc for repairs under warranty ?

Assuming there is nothing on your laptop you’d be embarrassed about/prosecuted for, and you have backups, then no. I’d probably just leave it.

As it’s a physical issue you may not get the same laptop back, and even if you do get the same one back it may have been wiped and reloaded with factory software, so make sure you have backups.

The fact it works with an adaptor would make me suspicious of the SD card rather than the laptop.

Thanks.
Tried 3 different manufactured SD cards with same problem.
But noticed if looked carefully at the adapter and sd card, there are slight differences around the contacts.
