Would I be losing much performance if I went to the laptop?

I'm mainly concerned about games but I don't really play that much at the moment, I'll be getting the latest total war, I don't play crysis or far cry 2 just a bit of battlefield 2/2142, tf2 will I be ok with the laptop do you think?

I used to own a 1530.

It will play BF2 and TF2 fine. I have no idea about the latest total war though as I have not tried it (I am guessing you are not talking about Empire either as that is not released yet)
I also played forged alliance and company of heroes with no problems.

I have a similar laptop with a significantly worse graphics card, and I run TF2 on it high settings (no HDR though) very nicely. You have a bit more power though so it seems like you'll be fine.

Sorry yeh I was talking about the new empire total war.

Thanks all, I may just do it then and get rid of this big hunk of ugly grey metal ...
