Hi I bought this Laptop beginning of June last year. So just over a year old.

It has started to wear on the touchpad.

is there anything i can do to sort it out, still works fine, but I presume it could perhaps stop working or get worse in time?

Even though I bought this on the 8th June 2011 and it is now over a year old by 1 week. Is there anything I can do, surely things like this should last longer?

Look forward to any advice you can give.

Thank you.

Hmz I don't think normal wear is covered. This is why I go for not covered touchpads because this happens.

The only option is to buy a new touchpad board and top casing for your machine. (touchpad board as a well because it gets glued/stuck to the casing).

Same as Meaker really, I never buy the laptops with touchpads that are painted on top, that always happens in time.

You could probably go to the place you purchased it or to the makers site and put a complaint in and say this is not what you expected to happen in such a short period of time and explain that the life of such a product should be more than 5 years and should not look or start to wear in this way in a year. Personally I would put a complaint in and get them to resolve it and sell it after it has been sorted out and don't buy such coloured touchpads in the future if you are the type that can cause this type of wear quickly.

Is that an Acer laptop ?

As it's a cosmetic issue wear and tear cannot really be calculated it's highly unlikely to get replaced.

Just out of interest me an a colleague were discussing this exact topic with touchpads, how much use does your laptop get say a rough hourly usage?
