Hi everyone
I dug out my old laptop, a HP Pavilion DV3-6100a. It has a 2GHz dual core pentium, and switchable integrated / dedicated ATI 5470 graphics. I turn it on and I hear the fan spin up, and sometimes it gets as far as the screen lighting up with error message about the CMOS battery being dead before it turns off.

It's not overheating as I have cleaned out the heatsink and fan (and even replaced them) as well as remounted the cooler several times.

I've tried it with everything being disconnected (literally just the motherboard and a vga monitor) and it still does it.

Any ideas? I'm beginning to think it is properly dead.
