Hi All,

I am looking to buy a new laptop today and thought that I would get some opinions in here. It's a working machine which is used for a lot of dev work, photoshop, working with VM's and that sort of stuff. It will also get used for the occasional game but predominantly this is for work. My current machine is as follows:

Clevo P650re 15.6"
i7 - 6700hq
32gb HyperX DDR4
NV GTX 970m 6gb
1x 1tb Samsung NVME
1x 480gb Sata SSD
1x 2tb Sata Mech.
4k IPS
Finger print, 4g etc etc.

I've been eyeing up the following and the clevo is getting slightly long in the tooth and looking ever so slightly tatty so i'm set on the upgrade but am I doing the right thing?

HP Spectre x360 15.6"
i7 - 8705g
16gb - Will probably swap this out for the HyperX
Vega M GL 4gb
1x 1tb NVME
4K IPS

Whats peoples thoughts? Worth the upgrade?

Side grade in performance I reckon. Not worth it IMO

This was my thoughts really but the hp is a fair amount lighter than the Clevo, pretty much 1kg lighter and a lot thinner which would be handy as I carry it into the city every day. I also like the fact it has a touch screen and can be converted to tablet mode.

Sounds to me you want it? So get it....

Do not get the Spectre. had 7 of them fail at work - mostly screen issues. powersupply aswell

if your are looking for a reliable machine - Dell XPS.

Spectre Pro X360 we bought.

Agreed whole heartily

they looked the "part" at the time and the CIO liked shiny things. suffice to say she isnt around anymore.

already in the process of going back to Dell's Latitude line.

I bought it today... couldn't not see for myself. It's a thing of beauty for sure. Managed to get 3 years hp warranty by banging it alongside all my servers, disk arrays etc. We are a hp house and normally go elitebooks or pro books and then whatever the IT team want they can have really.

I'll no doubt report back my epic fails in time.
