Laptop v desktop gpu

Yes, the 10 series was a genuine change to the rules due to how efficient Pascal was.

If Nvidia's next architecture improves this again, we may see a move back towards the previous status quo. My 2080 MaxP overclocked is 2080/2070 Super Territory so they're not FAR off (obviously with power/temperature limits the desktop cards don't have), but not as close as they were in the 10 days.

System isn’t too bad. As you guys have stated my gtx 680 is better as it could run something like tomb raider at close to max but the laptops 1050 at around medium settings with 40fps.

Just out of curiosity is the gpu upgradeable? Never had a laptop before. It’s a dell.
