Laptop wifi switch

my toshiba laptop had a 11b wifi card and was upgraded to 11a/b/g card both mini-pci are toshiba branded cards and the newer one was from a new model toshiba but now the wifi switch doesnt switch the card off it has no effect the card otherwise works fine is this normal after an upgrade?

Id hazard a guess and say that perhaps that wi-fi switch was aided by a driver for the previous card. Just be thankful it stays on instead of off!
