hi all,

i offered to have a look at my Sisters laptop for her as she said she stupidly shut her laptop off during updates. It now doesn't boot windows.

I checked the boot priority and the HDD was first and it was recognised in the BIOS.
I had a copy of Hirens LIVE CD to try but unfortunately it wouldn't boot from that, even though i changed to boot priority again.

I tried to log into Safemode, but it didnt like that either.

I have tried a startup repair but it said that it couldnt fix the issue and with no system restore points available, i can't try that.

Laptop : HP Presario A961EM

Any suggestions

Can you be a bit more specific than "it's didn't like that either"? We're not psychic. ;)

Error messages/codes would be helpful.

hehe sure,

When i select boot in Safe mode, it does its check list and then i get "loading windows files" with the progress bar down the bottom. After it appears to have finished, it goes into a system recovery options window asking me to specify language and keyboard layout.

When i select English, it asks for me to log in so i can access the System recovery window.

No matter what i do, it always takes me back to the same screen where i have to select language in system recovery options.

It doesnt produce any error codes at all
