I've got a Hp laptop that when I plug the charger in my laptop I'd have to slowly wriggle the charger wire in the charger port and then it will work. The laptop currently has 7% battery left which will load. I know definitely it's not the charger, If I were to replace the power jack port connector will it work or might there be other issues?

Hp have a problem at the moment, Ive got a few HP probooks that are about 2-3 years old and are all doing the same thing, not sure the port itself is damaged/loose on any of them tbh.

GF's HP laptop was doing the same thing. Curiously it would only charge while it was off. It was running an unactivated Windows 7 install as I was unable to reactivate it after swapping the HD for a SSD. The original disk was pwned by viruses, I didn't want to clone it, and did a fresh install.

Anyway, thought that it was probably a hardware fault that was preventing the charging, but I decided to install Windows 8.1 (genuine, cheap upgrade through work) and it's been fine ever since. I still have no idea what the issue was.

If you have to wriggle the charger to get it to work, it sounds like the DC jack. Depending on the model you may have to remove the jack from the motherboard and solder another one on there. Other's use a harness which means it's a case of ordering a replacement, disconnecting the old one, and plugged the new one in.
