laptop wont access some pages

hi
have a laptop and it wont open all sites, i can use overclockers but cant see right move and some other site even tho other pc connects instantly.have run avg on it but cant get it to update so its pretty useless

laptop is running vista

any help appreciated
 
ISP? Router, modem? Browser that doesn't work? Tried other browsers?
What happens when it "wont[sic] open"?

"It doesn't work" isn't enough information to guess at what doesn't work...
 
well sites im havin probs with are right move, face book to name a few, tried at friends house who are on, tried at mine usin adsl 24, tower on wired connection can access them but lap top wont, can ping them and laptop occassionally will access them.but if i restart it then it wont all ways connect again, thats using ie7 nad firefox
 
So you have two machines attached to a router, one can access the sites and the other can't?

Define "wont[sic] all ways[sic] connect again".
 
its a friends laptop and at home theve startde having trouble accessing right move
so i connected to there neighbours unsecured networs same prob
brought it home and my wired tower can access rightmove but laptop somtimes hangs when u type it in google or if google finds page when u click on the link it just sits there never loading, if i restart the laptop it might work that time but restart again and it might night
pinged it off laptop and no problem,ran all sorts of antivirus and spyware, nothing
just dont know what else it can b
 
perhaps i should also mention that even if it wont access these sites it will others
it will connect to overclockers no problem
 
the mystery gets worse
just set up guest account on lap top and it connects fine,swap back to friens account and no go
please help before it wears the wall
 
If it "doesn't work" on the laptop and does on another machine, and it's the same on another network, it's some issue with the machine itself - as you've discovered.
 
If it breaks just searching for sites, there's got to be something filtering by keywords - parental controls, firewalls, any proxy settings?
