I have a HP 8460p core i7 laptop.
I bought 16 GB (8x2) of RAM from crucial....website said RAM was compatible with my system........ With both sticks installed...the computer wont boot...not even the BIOS. And I am getting 3 flashes on the keyboard which indicate "memory module error".
Also, with only one stick installed on the second DIMM only (1st DIMM not populated) the computer wont boot as well. this happens with the original HP RAM as well.
I checked both crucial sticks on the 1st DIMM, and both work. And my BIOS is updated to the latest version.
2nd DIMM on MOBO faulty maybe? or setting in the BIOS needs changing?
Maybe only Quad core CPUs support second DIMM? mines dual core.
