laptop wont post

my dad has a 4 year old toshiba satellite a30 and it has just resently started playing up.
when you turn it on it will run the fans at full power for about 3 seconds and while doing this the screen will stay off, it will the restart itself and then loop continuosly untill you take the battery out
plz help

Check that it isn't overheating because the cooling system is clogged with fluff and dust.

You'd be amazed at how much rubbish can come out of a laptop when you blow it through with compressed air (or a strong pair of lungs).

ive just cleaned out the heatsink and replaced the stock greace with arctic silver
