Getting to be a real pain in the arse as I use the usb interface (Edirol UA-25EX) as the main soundcard for listening to all of my music and so it's easier to just keep it plugged in all the time rather than unplugging each time I want to shut the lid.

When I open the lid and try to resume from standby, the hdd lights and fans kick in, but the monitor is blank. It's definitely the interface as when it's not plugged in prior to shutting the lid then it works as normal. Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP.

Any ideas how to sort it out?

Have you tried checking the power saving settings and adjusting these. Also ensure the latest drivers for your soundcard, check that the bios has acpi on and apm off.
