My laptop will not turn on full stop! first of all i want to rule out that the battery is charging properly before is start suggesting it is something else. The charger pack lights up all right and have let it run for quite a while but there is no heat of it! Should there always be heat comeing of it??

Dont want to buy a new battery and end up it not even being the battery thats the problem!!

Any suggestions???

Cheers

Tried taking out the battery for 10 mins and putting it back in? Sometimes works wonders. Will it power up without the battery in but on mains?

when that happened with mine, i managed to plug in an external monitor, and powered it on and got the signal out to the monitor, so when you mean it doesn't turn on, can you hear the fans start up?? or is it just dead?? :)

yeah need more specifics, what does happen and what doesn't happen would be great, do you get any noise? what sort of noise? does it work on mains? do any lights come on? does it beep? does the power light light up?

Get a meter and measure the output from the power pack. Then move onto the battery/laptop.

as already suggested, try taking the battery out and just leaving it plugged into the mains and see if it turns on, Also if you have a multimeter then test there is an output coming from the charger.

try unplugging from mains, and removing battery, then press power button for a few seconds, then try with battery or mains.

have taken the battery out and tryed it on the mains still no joy!!
Dont have a multimeter so cant see if it is outputing but if the light on the charger is on should it not be working??

It is an E systems 3086!!
Yes i know not the best of makes!!!

If the light is on it would make you think that it is outputting ok. But if the cable is broken between the charger and the plug at the end it won't be outputting anything. Test it.

Does the laptop not have a light on it to show when it is charging even if the machine is not turned on? That would be where I'd check.

When was the last time you used it? Was it on the battery or the mains?

Quite often with laptop then power connector on the motherboard can break.
