Hi guys!

Im in abit of a dilema as I will probably be moving soon, thus meaning a lack of space in and around my new place. I am now looking to get rid of my desktop unfortunately and grab a laptop, only problem is meeting some criteria.

Looking for something that will play games (abit of css etc) and that also has a blu ray drive, although im probably skimping on my budget of around £600 (this can stretch abit if needed) guessing around 15" screen size would be perfect.

Any help would be appreciated!

Only one I see thats nearly fits is this TOSHIBA Satellite L505-144 Refurbished for £529, but no BD player. For £600 your criteria is a tall order for a new machine.

I know its a little tight! can probably stretch a little if its reasonable (you know its not cheap to move a few hundred miles) :(

Manufacturers like to stick the Blu Ray into more expensive models which is a bummer. Another issue is that when they do put the drive into cheaper models, more than likely you only get a basic 720p capable screen which doesn't do full justice to Blu Ray quality. However, personally I don't see that as a major issue since you're only using it for on relatively small screen.

Dell are a bit stingy with it recently and only seem to stick it in the more expensive XPS models, however it may be worth checking out the outlet if you don't mind refurbished models. You may also be able to find some HP Pavilion DV6/7 old stock with Blu Ray. Acer are good value for money in mid range market and there are a few models floating around with Blu Ray around £600 mark but again their after sales support isn't know for being good.

Well I was abit slow on getting things together so the Aspire 5740G (with blu ray) is not longer available. Guess I'll keep my eyes open for another great deal like that.

I just picked up a 2nd hand acer 6935G p8400 2.2gig 4gb ddr , 320gb hd, bluray player, nvidia 9600m GT for £360, its in pretty mint as new condition. Its a 18month old machine but should still cut the mustard for some gaming and has a resonably fast processor.
