laptops and extended use

got a new laptop recently that is a damn sight quicker than my gaming desktop.
only problem i have is the screen and keyboard arent great for gaming. if i connect my tft, mouse and keyboard and put the laptop to one side, will i run into any trouble using it for extended time, would it be a good idea to take the battery out?
