right ben trying to fix the misses lap top for ages now i dont know what she dose to them but its always the same.

basically the laptop's start to run slow ie at idle there cpu usage is 92-97% and therefor i can not do anything with them.

so i took the lap top apart and cleaned it (oh my the amount of dust inside was unreal)

and i also reformatted and put a fresh os of the hard drive and reloaded appropriate drivers. but once windows has loaded the cpu is a 90 odd % again with nothing running still the same if i put the old hard drive back in as well??????

But if i load up on either hard drive in safe mode the computer is fine.

any help resolving would be great.

Task manager > Processes > Click the CPU column header twice and see what is listed at the top using all the CPU time.

Cleaning the dust out wont affect it whatsoever from a CPU % used point of view.

i know but its stop smelling like burnt electrical goods.

System and system idle are the only 2 processes but the cpu is stil at 92% all the time

So System is using up 92%??

System Idle would mean the CPU is idle and not processing anything and so if that was marked as 92% then there would be no issue

its a celeron m 1.73ghz??
