Behind you... Naked!
I have simply not been able to solve this one.

My 2 main Laptops

HP 6730B - C2D, 4GB, Intel Video

HP DV6 - i7 , 8GB , ATI Video

Both do the exact same thing.

They both install Linux peachy as you like, however, the very latest versions of Sabayon ( 13.8 ) and MiNT ( 15 ) both fail to install properly.

If I install older versions, as I have been using just fine until recently, they worked just fine until they did some updates and then they failed to restart.

At first, I thought it was down to the ATI Drivers with Sabayon, but then MiNT did the same, but then the 6730 also does the very same thing now too, so its NOT ATI.

Similarly, I got a Samsung R60 Laptop and thats got ATI x1250 Video and that runs just fine.

Its only a 1.7Ghz Pentium Dual so nowhere near as fast as the other two, but at least it runs nicely.

Anyway, I have asked in a number of places in a number of forums but m getting nowhere so Im hoping I can get something here?

Anyone have an idea as to why its doing this?

Do you know what the errors are when it fails to install? Being able to post up the errors produced would help to solve the problem.

If older versions install fine then it could be a newer kernel not having support for something in your laptop that is needed.

The errors look to me, like they are Video related.

On newer installs, ( Mint 15, Sabayon 13.8 etc ) it simply hangs ( Even though Live editions runss fine - it hangs when I install it but I get no actual error messages or anything or the like? )

When I use an older distro, it installs 100% fine ( Mint 14, Sabayon 13.4 etc ) and indeed runs perfectly fine until it does any updates. Once its done them, after it restarts, it fails to get to the desktop.
Of course I dont mean just ANY updates of course, I do mean more serious ones, but I am at a loss as to which ones kill it.

Erm, when it does this way, I do get access to the command line, and I have tried entering "startx" but it fails, and so I could give you an output from there I suppose, but, iirc, it tells me that its unable to find a resolution - Let me get back to you on that.

Right now, the i7 Laptop, I have simply gone and stuffed Windows 7 on to it, and the Core2Duo I have given Fedora 18 a shot ( I dont like it, but time will tell )
