Morning all

My Fiancée has just dropped a bombshell on me and asked me to find her a new laptop - and I've not got a clue what to suggest so I thought I'd ask for help.

What does it need to do?

1) Decent WoW performance/other games - but not to, say, skyrim standards. She doesn't play anything released in the last three years, so we're not talking mega-performance.

2) Moderately serious office use.

3) Unlikely to burst into flames.

The budget is a little loose - 600-800, but with wriggle room to go a bit higher if it's really significant. (On the other hand, if I can do it for 500 there might be a new netbook in it for me...)

So...help?

Asus N55SF (15.6" display, although I've seen these in the flesh next to 16" and 17" machines and they don't appear to be much smaller!)

Dell XPS L702X (17") from the Dell Outlet (aim for 1920x1080 display, i7 cpu and GT555m graphics, 4gb or more ram for around £650 +/-£50)

The Dell XPS 15z and L502X would probably fit the bill too (15.6") and 1600x900 is reasonable resolution for this size. I believe the graphics are GT540m which is significantly slower that the GT555m card you could get in the 17" Dell XPS above.

If you're lucky you could maybe find an Alienware m14x at under £800 in the outlet too, although you get the same performance from the XPS L702X above for less if size isn't an issue. The XPS L702X's from the outlet can be seriously good value.

I'm sure I've left out more.
