Ok, so in a bit of a quandary here, I'm in the market for a laptop but due to various programming/management/development applications, I need/want to use I'm looking for a laptop that supports 8GB of ram.

Now looking around the usual suspects dell/hp/ibm I'm struggling to find any that support that much memory, now I could go down the MacBook pro route (and been able to buy 2 extra years of hardware support direct from the manufacture does appeal) but I'm wondering what the other options are?

Ideas, help, (dell/hp/ibm) model numbers to look out for?

Have 8GB DDR3 running in my Dell Studio XPS 16. A older model granted but the new Studio XPS's have the option too.

Look for workstation class laptops rather than consumer ones e.g. Dell Precisions can take at least 8GB, some will allow up to 16GB.

Most modern laptops will take 8GB but not many are offered with the option as 4GB DDR3 DIMMs are expensive. It might be cheaper to buy one with, say, 2GB and upgrade it yourself.
