Can you buy laptops with XP instead of the frankly sick inducing Vista? They all seem to be vista.

Vista isnt compatible with all routers. Vista isn't compatible with all the software that can be used with XP. XP does everything i want in a operating system, Vista will have 0 to -65 effect on my productivity.

But Vista is running well for me and already there have been far more stable drivers out there from hardware/software vendors.
I guess the main point here is don't slate Vista because in due time I'm sure you'd be using it as soon as support is taken away from XP.
There are quite a few older model laptops which still have XP Pro available... but I'm sure the newer Santa Rosa laptops were developed with Vista in mind. A few HP laptops offer XP alternatives.
In the next 5 years i could see Linux being a viable alternative with the way things are heading. Ubuntu Desktop everything a user needs without gaming really.
