Hey just need some advice as I have never had or purchased a laptop before. I'm looking for some thing thats going to last a while, going to be able to play games well ish not expecting anything amazing.

Currenty looking at this laptop

And the price mark is £770, so this is a bang on.

Is the X1700 a good GFX card or is a the X2300 better?

Is this a good lappy for the price or can I get better, is Asus the best choice or is there a better make, dell, toshiba, fuijitsu?

That's a very nice laptop from Asus, slightly expensive at OcUK but nevertheless, pretty good deal. The T5500 is not a bad processor but you'd probably want a T5600 with the Intel VT (F3Jp-AP063C). There's always the T7XXX series too but at a higher price.

For mobile gaming, the X1700 is a very good card and I've read that the Asus F3JP is particularly popular with gamers. The X1700 is a far better card than the X2300, however not DirectX 10 compatible.

The thing with the F3JP is that it's a 15.4" laptop with 1280x800 resolution, I'd prefer it with a 1440x900 at least. But 1280x800 is about standard for this size of screen.

You can check out other brands, such as Rizeon or Zepto - advantages of these brands is the ability to customise your system on their website. Aside from that - the Asus F3JP are very worthy choices for gaming-on-the-go. :)

Is it worth going for the F3Jp-AP063C with the 1GB less RAM and 120GB hard drive?

Also where to buy from I see lots of places selling this laptop cheap, but I personally would never take the risk.

Probably not, but you've always got room to upgrade to an extra 1GB should you need it. So what did you order?
