Large LCD?

Hi,

I would like to buy a large screen to wall mount in my room. Dont know what model, dont know what size. If I was to decide, I know for a fact the looks of the thing will take over from the actual technical aspect, but, I do like good performance aswell. :D

Are sony worth the extra premium you pay over less "branded" models, or are there gems to be found amongst the more competitively priced screens?

Will be playing games aswell eventually, when I can afford to move away from 1 x 7800gt to dual/quad card's or whatever would be available in my budget at the time?

Oh yeah, budget for LCD TV/monitor would be £1000-£1500. :)

Last thing, regarding screen size for my room. The room length from my sitting position can be from 7-10ft.

The space on the wall is not a problem as seen in the pic. Just I dont want to get a screen too big for my room and at the same time waste money. ;)

My olds have a 27inch lcd TV and imo this would be a little small. I was looking at 37" to 42".

I have seen a samsung plasma for ok £ but again its the looks that caught my eye. This is the model :- Samsung PS42D5S 42" 16:9 Plasma TV .

Will it be suitable for gaming aswell as films?

I have another computer for internet,chatting general messing on the other side of the room. This new screen, whatever it be, will be used with a HTPC setup, atleast thats the plan. I will hopefully use MC 2005 has I have the remote etc and previously had this installed when I had a 21inch screen and pvr350 card.

Yes, xbox is on the rack out the way but my Yamaha amp normally sits on there. CD-player is a marantz 63 Ki-sig and the big black box underneath is a silverstone lascala with not much in it. Speakers are MA silver S8's.
