Hi there,

What the largest and best northbridge heatsink?

I am looking for one for a Mod I am doing and i need it to be good and large...

What do you recommend?

Thanks.

Interesting, the mod is actually for a mini-itx system.

I am trying to make it passive (it't one of the ones with a fan).

Basically, I have managed to succesfully fit a zalman northbridge fan (ZM-NB47J) and it works ok, but it under full load I am getting ~60*C and thats outside of the case.

It doesn't use screws, it uses these wierd spring thingys.....

Also there is a height limit because of the case....i'd say the max height is 75mm.

Deluxe.

I would water cool it but only if I bought another loop which I can't afford.

At the moment with all the fans on and 100% prime load, its 41c @ 3870mhz

When the fans are off it gets upto 60c so need something better at idle cooling certainly!

running one on mine.

How hard/easy is it to remove and install, have you got nb and sb after market coolers?

I bought the board with the HR-05 so I can't comment on removing the original..but I've heard it's not that easy and you have to cut the heatpipe.

As far as installing, it's quite easy. If you have decent airflow in your case then you can run it passively no problem...I switched to a P182 recently though and temps can get to 50c under load so I have bought a 92mm sharkoon in the MM and am betting to see very nice temps after i install it.

As for the SB, I just put some heatsinks on the stock sink...it never even gets warm really....

here's a pic of what I did with the SB and another of the HR-05
