There's a world of promises appear to be getting broken by the promise of a slot that fits a large slice of bread without cramming it in.

Can't believe I am turning to ask for something so basic but any experience of one that will deliver?

Ideally not 100quid and extra points for the bagel option. My current roaster only does bagel by fault and it's getting tiresome to flip the bread.

How large is large? My cheap one fits warburtons fine, you just put the bread in lengthways instead of upright.

I broke my toaster last year. I’ve used the grill ever since. Fits any size. Doesn’t take up counter space. It takes a touch longer but by the time I’ve made a coffee, got my toppings, etc it’s basically ready.

Costs a fortune to run compared to a toaster.

If you seldom need to toast, then it's not likely to make much difference, but if you're toasting 3-4+ times a week, that'll soon add up!

We have the Warburton toaster
The large Warburton bread fits as it should :D
Even so i find turning it over halfway gets a better overall colour :)

Used to work in retail, once had a lady legit come in with a slice of bread in a kitchen towel she was so cross at this problem. Very smart tbf.

I've got a Kitchenaid, even fits the extra large bagels I got from Costco and the Mother's Pride plain loaves I like. If your toaster has a bagel setting it will probably handle most foods that you try to cram into it.

ussually have to rotate/roll hot-cross buns , muffins or crumpets with a pointy knife whilst cooking so that they are even and don't burn on the top,
and the same knife then removes them when done - not a tragedy.

- which toasters can you genuinely use unattended without a half-time inspection/rotation ?

currently driving a Tefal thick&thin, single slot toaster , will take 2 verticals, or long 25cm halved baguette.

you seriously stick a knife in a toaster while its toasting?

are you after a darwin award?

There was a chap in GD who tested toasters for 20 years. He said the element is coated so you can't get electrocuted. Couldn't tell if he was trolling the poster though... :p

don't worry I'm not a zoomer who can't wire a plug, have previously dismantled it blindfolded,
wooden handled too - but maybe there is a market for better insulated knives.

- where is this in the rospa ranking.
