Largest SD card you can use in a Wii?

Ive got a SanDisk 4GB one in mine.. and its works fine. The same SD card that came with my Digital Camera.
Aye, hence why I said officially. I believe that the 4GB models using a certain type of compression don't work.

What are the guys with cards using them for? I've not bothered, can't see any use for it.

I've got a 2gb card and been using it to store some of the Virtual Console games on. There is probably no need for one right now, even though I've got all the VC games they would still fit on the 512mb that comes with the Wii. Will still be useful in the future though.

Same here. A 2GB Kingston card for £12. I thought I may as well as it's so cheap.

Am I right in thinking they won't run off the card though, and need to be coppied over when you want to play them?

I like putting pictures from my digicam onto my Wii and playing around with them in the photo editor thingy and you can mail them to mates as well... You can also listen to your MP3's on the SD card if you goto the gallery.

But as far as i see it, there isn't really much use for it apart from putting some pictures on etc. You can't run VC games off the SD card as if you copy it over to the SD card and delete the original, then you have to copy it back from the SD card to play it, but theres no point in doing that as a means of backup as you can re-download any virtual console game you have purchased free of charge. Also to me there is no point in putting mp3's on it as my computer etc is next to Wii and so a plethora of music is available much more easier (i know this isn't the case for most people).
Can the Wii actually read data from the SD card or does it have to be onj the console itself? (ie can i copy my saves over to the sd card and delete them from the wii memory?)

Cheers

I got the Wii branded Sandisc SD card because I'm an idiot. Has I knew I could get a standard sandisc one for a lot less and I'm a sucker for official hardware.

It might be 'official' to an extent, but its the standard one with a nintendo sticker on.
You are a sucker indeed.
