Hey guys,

For all of you who do not know what larping is, it stands for Live action role play.

Basically, you make up a character and physically play it out with a series of other larpists. We make up scenarios in a fiction setting in the real world.

Many of you will have seen the 'Lightning bolt' Larping video on youtube. It's great fun and allows yourself to release your inner larpist.

For those of you who want to know more about larping:

I was thinking about creating a OcUK Larping Team. So we can all release our inner larpists.

No flaming please, I am deadly serious.

ive larped for years. not your little things like the lightning bolt video, but 1000-a-side battles with professional pyrotechnics, a game world with a persistent economy and guilds etc.

whilst you do get a few socially awkward people (its a safe, non-judgemental environment where they can be comfortable and learn some social skills, so im all for it), most of the larpers i know are from all walks of life, from squaddies to nuclear physicists to massage therapists (they run in in-character 'brothel' where you get a decent professional massage for in-game cash). there are even in-character bars (or there were when i went) where you can sit around drinking some of the best homebrew ive ever had (and i do like my ale) and play the social side of things.

A few guys i know are looking into starting up a swords and firearms larp/airsoft crossover that sounds interesting.

sigh at the videos. americans always manage to make larping look bad with their crappy weapons and worse costumes

The Larp is strong in you.

I do not wish to consider anything other than Larping.
I am a dedicated Larpist.
All your posts comparing Larping to any other fail activities are void.

Larp fo' life. LFL.

Agreed, so help me out.

What is your character?
What is your special power and how do you deploy it?
Do you have special clothing? (pictures welcome)

Name: Shadow, evil form is Secronia
Age: 16, never age past 18
Appearance: Secronia wears golden silverish bloody wolf armour, the wolf armour is wolf bones which protect every important part of the body, like wolf ribs protect his ribs and rib cage, they glow a black misty colour and stained with blood as they are outlined with golden and silverish metal, his arms are unprotected and he wears a wolf skull helmet, also stained with blood and horns replace where the ears were, he is 7foot, very broad and muscular
Weapons: Secronic Broadsword and Dark wolf sword(descriptions in RP planning) and Daedric longbow
Special abilities/spells/items:amulet of the gods(items), daedric arrows, full shadow technique(teleport) semi-shadow(form of chameleon, can be seen but not hit), pain converted into strength
Background:Secronia was created from an experiment, tested on ShadowJ, by applying 2 forms to a shadow, makes a dwemer god, so the theory says, what the theory doesn't say is if the dwemer god is good or evil...after having the blood form and white wolf form...ShadowJ was able to pull the power of both forms into the ultimate dwemer god, Secronia, Secronia was able to make Dagon retreat and under the influence of being called upon, gave ShadowJ back...after 4 years ShadowJ and Secronia's battle for the body continues, this time Secronia won but not being called upon meant he wasn't good, meaning Secronia can get up to his evil tricks once again
Any other information: Azura is his queen, he has conquered 5 cities, Gnsis, Gnarr Mok, Hla'Oad, Seyda Neen and Pelagiad, Marr gann and caldera were destroyed by his orders to the vampire knights

I used to larp at Chislehurst Caves when I was younger.

I wasn't hugely into the actual roleplaying but fighting other people with foam weapons is massive fun. :D

There's nothing quite like some close quarters combat.

Oh I admit it really is a bag of fun. I do love to indulge in a good larping session and immerse myself into my true larpist form.

Freelanc3r, in the interest of furthering knowledge of live action role playing, please could you post a pic of yourself in all your gear?

Sure...

Multiple shots of me, I am of course the assassin/scout of my guild.

We do not need photos, for larping, a true larpist just uses his exquisite knowledge of the fiction world, and thereby creates a completely epic scenario on the spot. We then store the pictures in our mental larp bank. After all, the more enthusiastic larpists out of us like to be in character 99% of the time. So I personally do not like using technology to share our larping tales across the universe, I simple like to use word of mouth.
