Hello, I have fitted a reconditioned fuser into my old HP4050n printer - it seems to have solved the problem of crinkly paper / messy print - now heve nice clean prints!

So I can now keep this ageing printer going for some while longer. BUT I now have the old fuser unit, which could be reconditioned (PTFE Sleeve + grease + know how). I have looked on the HP site and they only recycle toners. Seems a shame for the sake of a PTFE sleeve / grease?

Anybody know anyone who recycles individual fuser units (found one place but minimum return = 10 items)? Thanks, Mel

Label it and put it with your recycling collection ? Our council is fairly good at taking unusual recyclable items - certainly fine with empty toner cartridges.

Our rules are - electrical items recycling - "must be small item with a mains lead" - e.g. kettle - It would be left or "binned".

It's an excellent piece of engineering - but I now have the defunct one I have taken out - all it needs to refurbish is a ptfe sleeve + grease (cost for web for set ~£15) + know-how! I don't have the know how so I paid £49 (incl delivery) for somebody else to supply me with a refurbished one (stripped down, etc) .

Probably needs a new transfer roller too.

Contact the place you bought your refurb from? They may take them.

This sounds as difficult as I've had trying to get rid of some used self injecting medication which the hospital issued me.

The hospital won't take back used needles.
The local community nurse won't take them.
The local pharmacy won't take them.
The doctor tells me to contact the council.
The council tell me to take them back to the hospital (GOTO 10)

I've been told I can't put such hazardous waste in the bin. But no-one will take them. I might just fill the sharps box with concrete and bury them in the garden :)

Google your local needle exchange, they're intended for IV drug users but I had a similar issue and they were happy to take mine.

Local GP should be taking them.
