HARD DRIVE 2 - Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB SATA-II 64MB Cache

This only runs at 5,400rpm - so will be quite slow. Similarly, do you actually -need- 2TBs additional storage?

I would swap it for this: clicky

Or if you do need 2TBs storage, this: clicky

Rest of the build looks epic, good luck with the build and enjoy it!

The i5 2500K does have the possibility of hitting higher OCs due to no HT and tbh you probably won't need the HT. So the i5 2500K may well be a good choice for you and bag the extra cash for more hardware or as admiral huddy said, go out for meal :p

I think the WD Caviar Green 2TB is actually one of the two best choices for a storage drive, the other being the Samsung Spinpoint F4EG 2TB. High spindle speed is certainly not a requirement for a storage drive.

thanks for the quick replys.

ok i definetley need 2TB so i will go for the Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 2TB instead.

im looking to overclock to around 4.5GHz maybe more in the future so i might also swap the CPU cooler for Corsair Hydro H50/H70 would you recommend this?

if i did swap the 2600K for the 2500K what would be the difference apart from the price if both were overclocked to 4.5GHz?
would the 2600K be any better?

;)

For encoding, yes. But the gains are fairly small in a lot of instances. Also, the 2500K overclocks a little better.

The 2600 is the better chip, but might not be worth the cash if your focus is gaming. I've got a 2500 K, and I encode fast enough :p

you sure the memory and ram will fit? can you use the memory slots furthest away?

win7 professional? you need this?

it will be built by overclockers so they will be able to tell me if the RAM fits or not :)

so after changing a few things from your advice. is there anything else you would change?

would it be worth me changing the CPU cooler to the corsair H50? bearing in mind i will be overclocking to 4.5GHz maybe more in the future.

im still thinking of if i should change the 2600K to the 2500K.
