Apparently that case fits standard ATX motherboards, which you might want to get instead of the mATX one as they tend to have better expansion options, and there are als more to choose from :)

i would be tempted to get a corsair 450W or 520W psu as it will most likely be of higher quality and protect your pc better in a surge.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

The only other thing I was thinking about was XP vs Vista. The person I am building for has a laptop with XP and they are not at all computer savvy. I presumed they would prefer the simplicity of not learning two OS's

if xp does everything they want then get XP, if they are intrested in vista only software (the only ones i can think of are games such as halo2 ) then i dont think vista at a basic level is that different from XP

i thought there might exist some non gaming software that works only on vista out there (halo 2 was only an example of what i was talkign about even though it is a game)

I assumed onboard GFX wouldnt support the 24" at native resolution?

I suppose it depends how much you spend on the onboard graphics lol. If you get a motherboard with an nVidia chipset on it chances are it'll run better than with an intel, pureley because nVidia know what they're doing with graphics more than intel. I bet this one would do, or if you want to keep it mATX, maybe this one?
