Hi everyone,

In the last few days my PC has locked up about 8 times. When it does this the mouse freezes, nothing can be typed and the sound locks on the note/sound it was on to create a continuous drone noise.

I have to hold the power to force a shutdown.

What can I do to start trying to find the cause?

Temps?
Drivers?

temps are fine, no over clocking going on here and the fans are working as they always have.

as far as drivers are concerned, it could possibly be the new AC97 audio codec for my onboard sound, but that was installed for about a week before any lock ups occured. I might try going back to the previous version.

Also my 'active desktop' is broken and when I click on it to restore, it says that script on the page has errors?!

if your machine was totally stable before that then think hard about anything u have installed or anything that u have changed over the last few days...

It's happening again, and only when I use the PC at this one particular address. At uni it was fine, now back home I get what seem like random complete lock ups.
It's not temps or drivers as they are the same as they were when I was elsewhere.

Any ideas, or plan of action I could take. I think it might be something to do with the internet connection here, maybe some screw up between this particular router and my PC???

Ok, when I restart Windows checks drive consistency...

It always, and I mean always, repairs
index $0 of file 25.

How can I find out what program or file this is by real name, and locate it on my drive while in windows itself? Anyone know?
