I've been signed up to Last FM for a couple of months but only just found an app to make songs scrobble on my iPod Touch. Now it's working, how long/how many tracks do I need to listen to for it to start finding neighbours?

Cheers

PS: If anyone's interested.......

What are Neighbours?
Your neighbours are people with similar music taste to you. Because neighbours are generated based on the music you listen to, you'll need to listen to at least 5 artists and wait about a week before your neighbours appear.

I expect your neighbours list will update on the Sunday-evening/Monday-morning when the charts are updated :).

I find the neighbours algorithm pretty useless anyway. Most\All of the time it just seems to be based on\overriden by your most popular artists vs their most popular artist.

how does lastfm work and how is it different to just listening to your own albums. Anyone care to explain in simple terms.............. TIA

It's going to be hard for it to generate neighbours with that little info. You need to listen to more stuff.

I'm just using it to get music recommendations, but considering it's not giving me any neighbours then it's useless so far.

You don't need neighbours to get music recommendations. Your dashboard should be giving you some recommended artists by now and even if it's not you can go to the artist page and have a look to see a list of similar artists.

I had a look at your page and got told I had super compatibility to you when I've only listened to four of the artists you've listened to so it's obviously nowhere near being super. You need to listen to some more music so they get a more accurate idea of what you like before they start recommending or else you'll end up being recommended something based on the fact you've listened to a song once.
