Ive searched and not found a thread so here it is!

Anyone else use this mighty website? It basically logs what music you listen to and recommends similer artists and unlike other sites ive used like this it actually shows artists you may actually like, I for one have found many new bands through this.

It also shows you people with similer music tastes to yourself, so its rather funky all in all

I do use last.fm primarily due to the number of bands I've discovered while listening to their radio service or just browsing the 'similar artists' pages.

Still hoping they start whole album streaming a la Spotify though - then i wouldn't need to buy so much music

Me too! Have got out of the habit of using Last.FM recently, but hopefully having a new group to explore will reignite my interest in it.

Seems loads of people(from my experience) went through the last.fm phase a while ago, though it died out pretty quickly.

I use the Last.fm app on my iPhone sometimes too, but it kills the battery streaming over 3g!

Not only that, I like the events section. Talk about up coming gigs, and after the gig, finding set lists and photos people have uploaded.

The only thing that puts me off is the trolling band pages get.

This. With the Winamp plug-in I don't have to worry about anything, it's all done for me automagically.

nb - the music listed is stuff that both the missus and I listen to.... anything electronic/trance or stuff by the Manics, Placebo, etc... is gonna be mine, whereas anything by any Japanese rock bands such as L'Arc en Ciel, SMAP, Gackt, etc... or anything by A-ha, Del Amitri, Paolo Nutini, etc... is her's. Honest!

Been using it since early 2006 and have found a fair bit of new music through it - I did subscribe for a year but didn't really see any reason to continue the sub.

Great site though

I used to use it but prefer spotify now when on the pc. I do however use the lastfm app for the ipod touch.
