Anyone else still hanging onto their trusty 8800 GTX?

Just curious really. Me personally I'm waiting for Kepler or better price reductions in the current gen (saying that though I do change my mind on a daily basis) for a replacement.

Mine is the Leadtek Winfast version. Now, back in the day I remember this being the top gun of GPU's but sadly now it's struggling.

Gaming at 1680 x 1050 but even at that it's being pushed at times (think Batman: Arkam City and BF3).

Got to give her credit though as she is still going strong but having said that, it's never been o'clocked so not really pushed it's boundaries and have no intention of doing so.

So, who else has this card and are you keeping it just for the sake of it or like me waiting for the right time (if ever there is one) to get a worthwhile replacement?

This may sound silly but part of me doesn't want to get rid/sell/spare it as it's been a damn good card to me and it's been so reliable (please don't blow up now).

Can't see me having it for the next 6 years though . . .

I wish I had a 8800 GTX to hang on to. Hanging on to a 580, and that's gonna depreciate fastest when Kepler hits.

I've got an 8800GT up in the loft somewhere, it's not got a cooler on it and it's probably knackered but it's there :p

I currently have a 9800GT (which is just a rebadged 8800GT) in this rig and it's still performing decently enough.

No point in me replacing it without getting a whole new rig.

I had an Ultra a couple of years back. Best looking card I've ever had that, gorgeous !

Sadly she died. So I baked. Then she died again, so I baked and put on thicker pads to put more pressure on the bits. Then she died again :(

Bloody ROHS crapola solder has a lot to answer for !

I had a 8800GTS 512Mb and boy was it a great card! I've rediscovered PC gaming with it. Unfortunately it died a year and a half later and made me switch to its grandchild - 460gtx. Which was no longer as relatively awesome, just a decent card that became a good card with my switch to i5k. 8800gts 512mb - you will stay in my heart! :o

Held on to my 8800GT for about four years, tho had it as a back-up for the last year and a half when I had a GTX260-216 as main. Then got this 560Ti, the 260 moved to back-up and I gave away the 8800GT...

It and the GTX were fantastic cards for the money back then and held up well longer than most. Will be missed! :o

My brother has my ocz 8800gtx its a right beat still runs 692/2200 aswell on the stock cooler
its an ocz branded card and i think its the only model ocz ever made

Still have mighty Asus 8800GTX,its probably ~5years now, keeping it as my back up
Funny thing is,i tried to OC it until it dies - not even a chance..And it plays 90% of games comfortably
Probably best ever graphics card - didnt thinking about buying new for 3+ years, but since i moved to Sandy from Q9550,i got new card as well

Still got a perfect EVGA 8800GTX KO edition with the ACS cooler.

Lifetime warranty as well.
Wonder what they would replace it with if it suddenly had a fall:D

Cost me just short of £400 back in 2007:eek:

Had mine for ~ 3yrs and started to show it's age with the occasional lock up due to overheating. Still plays current games but soon to be replaced with a 6850 which should allow for some more eye candy, great card though!

My GTX did me proud for more than 3 years, and is now sat in my friends rig purring happily. It was a beast of a card, and few cards have matched it's staying power in my opinion.
